How it started

Martin’s journey into photography is quite intriguing. He began by taking pictures with a camera his grandparents gifted him for Christmas—an origin story that seems typical for many photographers. However, that’s just the surface. In reality, Martin was a talented artist from a young age; at just seven years old, he devoted countless hours to drawing on anything he could find, including his classroom desk. Throughout his time in public and high school, his aspiration was to become an illustrator, prompting him to enroll in college for illustration.

During his college years, Martin began exploring photography. He purchased a Pentax camera and set up a small black-and-white darkroom. His goal was to photograph his subjects, create prints, and then base his drawings on those images. As he delved deeper into photography, he found it increasingly captivating and ultimately made the shift from illustration to photography, never looking back.

My First Camera

I love the perfect shot

Before college and acquiring my first 35mm camera, this
Kodak 110 was the companion I carried with me everywhere
during high school. The pictures may not have been top quality,
but they captured special moments that I cherish. I still have
many of those photographs today. Here's some of the
pictures taken with my Kodak 110 camera in the 70"s.
